LiDAR Seemingly Confirmed For The iPhone 12

One of the new features that Apple introduced to the iPad Pro earlier this year came in the form of a LiDAR sensor. It was later rumored that this was a feature that would eventually make its way to the iPhone as well, and now a new video uploaded to YouTube by Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech, it seems that the feature has been “confirmed”.

In the video above, it shows alleged screenshots for the iPhone 12 that seems to show LiDAR will indeed be a feature for Apple’s new smartphones, although it could be limited to either the Pro or Pro Max models. According to the description, the introduction of the LiDAR sensor will also help with autofocus and subject detection.

Prosser claims that the leaked screenshots come from a PVT iPhone model. For those unfamiliar, a PVT model is basically the final unit of the iPhone that will be produced ahead of mass production. Assuming that this passes all the necessary tests, this is essentially the model that the public should be receiving.

The video also goes on to confirm that the iPhone 12 (or at least one of the models) will support 120Hz display, something that has been hotly disputed. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have more details in the near future.
