We Probably Shouldn’t Expect New Xbox Series X/S Hardware Revisions Anytime Soon

The Microsoft Xbox Series X and S were released back in November 2020. This means that it has been a little under a year since the consoles were released, but for those who might be hoping to see some kind of hardware revision, don’t hold your breath because these might be the consoles we’ll be seeing for a long time.

This was revealed during IGN’s Podcast Unlocked where they spoke with Xbox head Phil Spencer. According to Spencer, “These are the consoles that we have in markets for years. And we built them with that in mind, and I love the tech that’s in there and that capability, and that’s where our focus is going.”

This doesn’t mean that Microsoft has no plans for upgraded versions of either console. Looking back at the history of the Xbox series, Microsoft has made various iterations during each generation. Just last generation alone we had the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and the Xbox One X. Sure, Microsoft took a slightly different approach by launching two consoles at once, but it doesn’t mean there won’t be changes made.

However, we expect that these changes will probably take place further down the road when the consoles have been in the market for a few years, and not within a year of its launch.
