Apple Music Business Lets Stores Stream Retail-Tailored Music

When you enter a store, more often than not you might hear music playing in the background. This is important as sometimes music can help set the mood and tone of a place, enhancing the overall shopping experience. It looks like Apple wants to help with that and has since launched what they are calling Apple Music Business.

As the name suggests, this is essentially Apple Music, except that it has been tailored for businesses. What this means is that there will be songs and playlists to choose from that are apparently better suited for retail firms. This service was created in collaboration with PlayNetwork, who already provides music to various stores and restaurants.

However, PlayNetwork will continue to manage the licensing of these songs while Apple is the one that handles the music. The service is said to have been in trial for the past six months and was actually planned since back in 2018. It would also see Apple go up against the likes of Spotify who has invested in similar services such as Soundtrack Your Brand.

Apple is also hoping that by seeing the company’s brand on the playlists, customers will be tempted into signing up for a subscription, which they will apparently be paying retailers a referral fee for when that happens.
