As some of you might have learnt over the weekend, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk took the wraps off a brand new electric vehicle that the company is working on, the Cybertruck. It garnered a lot of talk and a bit of controversy due to its design, which some are calling futuristic, while others are calling it weird.
However, it seems that despite the initial shock to its design, many customers appear to be enamored enough to place an order for it. According to Musk’s tweet, it has been revealed that there have been over 140,000 orders placed for the Cybertruck to date, and we imagine that those numbers should rise over time.
That being said, we should note that these orders only require a refundable deposit of $100 just to place an order, so it’s not that hard for customers to place orders and cancel them later, so maybe we shouldn’t be celebrating the Cybertruck’s success just yet. For those who are unfamiliar, the Cybertruck is essentially an electric pickup truck.

It will offer up some pretty interesting features, such as a reinforced body and window panes to make the truck more sturdy than ever. There will also be multiple versions of the truck offered, where there will single, dual, or triple motors depending on the driver’s preference, with the cheapest model starting at $39,900. The Cybertruck won’t be ready anytime soon as it has been estimated that production will only begin in 2021.
