According to the rumors, Apple is set to launch its own set of Tile-like tracking accessories. When exactly that will happen remains to be seen, but it seems that ahead of Apple launching said accessory, the folks at Tile have been working at pumping out new features, one of those being Smart Alerts.
With this new feature, what it does is that it will alert you after five minutes if you have left the location and the item is not with you. For example, this will be useful for things like bags, coats, and umbrellas, where you might forget to take them with you after you leave the library, coffee shop, office, and so on.
For those who might be worried about false alarms, not to worry as you will be able to set “safe zones”, meaning that if an item is in a location designated as your “safe zone”, then the alerts won’t be sent. For example if it’s a clear sunny day and you leave home, which has been set as your safe zone, without your coat or umbrella, it won’t ping you about it.
That being said, the only downside to this feature is that you will need to subscribe to Tile Premium at $30 year. Also, we should point out that Smart Alerts is currently only in beta so there could be some bugs that Tile has yet to iron yet.
