Spotify Squashes Any Hope Of It Launching On The Nintendo Switch

These days modern day gaming consoles can no longer be just about gaming. This is because our smartphones and tablets are becoming increasingly capable of gaming, meaning that if consoles are hoping to keep up, they need to give gamers more reason to use them. So far consoles like the Xbox and PlayStation have introduced a bunch of apps that makes them more than just a gaming console.

However, on the Switch front, it seems to be a bit slow. In fact, if you were hoping to get some music streaming apps on the Switch, you could be out of luck as Spotify seems to have essentially squashed our hopes of seeing it launch on the console. This is according to a suggestion posted onto Spotify’s community page back in 2017, but in a recent update by the company, they state that they have nothing to announce at this point in time.

The message reads, “Hey folks, Spotify staff here. We’re always working on improving the Spotify experience across platforms, but we don’t have any further information to share at the moment. It should also be noted that we typically don’t announce integrations with third parties in advance. Thanks for continuing to share your ideas.”

In the meantime, some of the more mainstream entertainment apps available for the Switch includes YouTube and Hulu.
