Future Zoom Calls Could Feature Real-Time Translations

Microsoft’s Skype used to be the go-to platform for video calling, but these days, Zoom seems to be a more popular choice. However, there are certain features of Skype that make it slightly more advantageous than Zoom, such as real-time translations, but that is expected to change as well.

This is because Zoom has recently announced their plans to acquire a company called Karlsruhe Information Technology Solutions, also known as Kites. This is a company that specializes in real-time translations that relies on machine learning, which means that there is a very good chance that this could be a feature in a future Zoom update.

According to Velchamy Sankarlingam, President of Product and Engineering at Zoom, “We are continuously looking for new ways to deliver happiness to our users and improve meeting productivity, and MT solutions will be key in enhancing our platform for Zoom customers across the globe. With our aligned missions to make collaboration frictionless – regardless of language, geographic location, or other barriers – we are confident Kites’ impressive team will fit right in with Zoom.”

We’re not sure when real-time translations will be coming to Zoom, but if this is something that you felt that the platform was missing, then this could be something to look forward to in the future.
