iPhone 13 Pro Will Sport Ultra Wide Lens With Autofocus

Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro series comes with a triple camera setup, one of which is an ultra wide lens. Users are able to switch between the lenses if they want, but the problem with shooting in ultra wide is that it is a fixed focus, meaning that users don’t get to specify which area of the photo they want to focus on.

This is versus the regular camera where you can tap on anywhere in the frame to focus on. However, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, that will change with the iPhone 13. According to Kuo, he claims that the iPhone 13 Pro series will continue to feature the use of an ultra wide lens, but it will also have the ability to autofocus.

He claims that in addition to autofocus, Apple will be making changes to the number of elements within the lens and change it from five elements to six. This is expected to result in better quality photos and videos. This will be limited to the iPhone 13 Pro series which includes the iPhone 13 Pro and the Pro Max models, but Kuo says that this tech will trickle down to the non-Pro iPhones in 2022.

This isn’t that surprising since that’s kind of what Apple’s been doing over the years, where usually certain features are exclusive to the higher-end models before they make their way to the “regular” models. The iPhone 13 series is currently expected to launch in September, so we only have a couple of months of waiting to do.
