The Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 is a large-format Android tablet part of a larger lineup, including the Yoga Tab 11 and Yoga Tab P11 Plus. The Yoga Tab 13 is the more exciting model, in my opinion, as the smaller ones are geared towards value rather than performance or technical novelty.
I love that the Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 has a native micro-HDMI input that makes it a proper external monitor. It does not require lame tricks such as wireless casing or USB connectivity, two things that can lead to disastrous video and visual feedback latency.
The value of having this native display connectivity is potentially enormous for heavy travelers because each Lbs of equipment needs to be justified. There is nothing better than having a dual-use tablet: an entertainment device and a monitor with decent specs (2160 x 1350, 400 NIT, 100% sRGB).
The Lenovo tablet design lands itself very well to this monitor use case because the built-in stand has been around for many product generations. Years ago, I asked other OEMs why they could not add a video input, and the answer was that “it would cost ~$50 cents more” (mind-blowing) or something like that, so I am glad that someone is finally doing it.
The tablet is powered by a Snapdragon 870, so it is capable multimedia and casual gaming device. You can decide if you need 128GB or 256GB of storage, but keep in mind that 256GB is a lot more comfortable with HD movie downloads.
The 1.83Lbs makes it a relatively heavy option for an Android tablet, but a 10000 mAh battery and the quad Dolby Atmos speaker system might make the weight worth it. Finally, the Yoga Tab 13 is compatible with the optional Lenovo Precision Pen 2 if you want to draw and sketch.
Android tablets have been under pressure ever since Chrome OS can run Android apps too. However, using a mobile-first OS still gives the best user experience for touch apps and single-purpose apps.
