Microsoft Will End Cyberpunk 2077’s Expanded Refund Policy Next Month

Unfortunately due to the buggy launch of Cyberpunk 2077, many gamers found themselves unable to play the game the way it should have been played. This was extremely disappointing which led companies like Sony to pull the game from their store, and also for Microsoft to extend the refund window for the game.

However, it seems that Microsoft will be ending that policy next month. According to a statement on Microsoft’s refund support page, “The team at CD PROJEKT RED continues to work hard to improve the experience of Cyberpunk 2077 for Xbox players and has made a number of updates. Given these updates, Microsoft will be returning to our standard digital game refund policy for Cyberpunk 2077 on July 6 for both new and existing purchases.”

Outside of Cyberpunk 2077, Microsoft’s approach to digital sales is that once you’ve purchased it, it’s final. Microsoft does allow for customers to request for a refund, but that usually needs to be reviewed and isn’t always guaranteed. However, Microsoft made an exception with Cyberpunk 2077 at that time due to the various issues surrounding the game, but that will no longer be the case next month.

The folks at CD Projekt have since released multiple patches that do address some of the problems with the game, and while it still isn’t perfect yet, it is at a place where it is more than playable. Even Sony has returned the game to its PlayStation Store.
