To solve the lack of native apps available for their Apple Silicon Macs, Apple turned to their Rosetta 2 translation software that basically got Intel apps to run on their Apple Silicon chipsets, but we imagine that this is probably not a permanent solution, but as the Apple Silicon chipsets are still new, it will have to do for now.
That being said, if you’re a professional videographer or editor that needs their apps for work, then you’ll be pleased to learn that Adobe has announced that Premiere Pro will now have native support for M1 Mac computers. The company actually launched a beta version of the app back in 2020, but it looks like it’s finally out of beta and is joining some of Adobe’s other apps.
According to Adobe, “Premiere Pro also takes advantage of the Apple M1’s lower power requirements providing significantly longer battery life than the previous models with comparable specifications. With full support for ground-breaking features like Speech to Text, you can produce cutting edge video content on lighter devices that rival the performance of high-end workstations.”
Adobe has actually been one of Apple’s early supporters where they were quick to announce support for the Apple Silicon chips. More developers are coming on board so it’s probably just a matter of time before Apple Silicon native apps become more commonplace.
