In addition to games like EA’s FIFA series, Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer (also known as PES) is one of the staples when it comes to football (or soccer if you prefer) related video games, but it looks like it’s the end of an era because Konami has since announced that they will be rebranding the series to eFootball.
It honestly doen’t really have the same ring to it as its original name, but maybe it’s something we’ll just have to get used to. Also, in addition to rebranding the series, Konami has announced that the game will be free-to-play. Just the other day we saw some screenshots from the game and it looked scarily realistic.
The game will be using Unreal Engine, which is a first for the series, and will be digital only. There will also be cross-play support so that means that it will be playable on PC, mobile, as well as consoles. It’s an interesting new direction for Konami who will be sharing additional details about the gameplay next month.
There is currently no scheduled release date but Konami is aiming for the fall of 2021, which means that it should be out in the next few months. In the meantime, you can check out the game in the official reveal trailer in the video above.
