Apple’s Mac Pro computers have been designed to be beasts in terms of performance. They are generally the choice of industry professionals who need the kind of performance that the Mac Pro offers, whether it be for rendering graphics or videos, editing photos or videos, creating music, and so on.
In case the current lineup isn’t powerful enough for your liking, then you might be interested to learn that Apple has actually introduced a new graphics upgrade for the computer. No, this is not the Apple Silicon refresh we’ve been looking forward to, but rather this comes in the form of new GPU configurations that users can choose from.
With these new configurations, users can choose from the AMD Radeon Pro W6800X, W6800X Duo, or W6900X GPUs while configuring the computer through Apple’s online store. As expected, these options do not come cheap and range from $2,400 for the “cheapest” configuration with the W6800X, or as much as $11,600 for two W6900X modules.
It’s actually interesting to see these options because then it makes us wonder if Apple could have an Apple Silicon chipset with GPUs that can perform on a similar level, if not better. We imagine that Apple could eventually get there given time, but whether or not they’ll be able to make it by the end of 2022 remains to be seen.
